The Brodhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited’s Speaker Series continues at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center, 1539 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg, when chapter founding member Don Baylor presents “Pennsylvania Stream Science.”
Baylor will explain how water quality standards for Pennsylvania streams are determined and the science behind the regulations. His program looks at the rules that govern the coldwater streams the chapter works to protect, and at the data behind them.
Baylor has worked as a biologist with Aquatic Resource Consulting since 1980. He has conducted stream baseline and monitoring studies of fish and macroinvertebrates throughout the Northeast and has written more than 60 technical reports for the firm. He holds a master’s degree in aquatic biology. He also taught English at Stroudsburg High School for 30 years and served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971, which makes it fitting that his program falls on Veterans Day.
Baylor has fished with a fly and tied flies since age 11. He is the author of the book “Pocono and Upper Delaware Hatches” and has been published in Rod & Reel magazine.
The program is free and open to chapter members and the public. Registration is available through the Trout Unlimited events page.
